Your dispute should clearly highlight what information you believe is inaccurate and clearly state the reasons why such an item is being disputed. Kindly provide any information including copies of any document to support your position and the basis of the dispute.
Before we begin to investigate or disclose further information in relation to the disputed item, there is a need to ensure your identity. We may also require further information to aid in the investigation. Where such preliminary aspects are not satisfied, we may not be in a position to investigate the dispute.
However, once the necessary elements are presented, the credit bureau will investigate the dispute and the inaccuracy of any data and report its finding from the investigation. Whilst a rating is being dispute, the status of the credit rating will change to indicated it is in dispute. Do note that we may also recommended or seek to employ alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation or conciliation to address dispute in a fair manner.
In most instances, where the information is proven to be accurate, the credit bureau can continue to report the information and indicate to the consumer the reasons why the requested change or correction was not made. However, where the data is proven to be inaccurate or misleading, the credit bureau will cease from processing and make any corrections as may be warranted. Individuals who have recently accessed the credit information will be notified of any changes that were made to the credit rating.
