To have the rating and status of a particular account changed. Please contact the company on your report responsible for providing that rating and status to you. Identify yourself and state the purpose of your call. Once you have reached the appropriate person or department, you can make your request to have the rating and status of your account changed, providing your valid reason. Please note that if the credit rating and status accurately reflects your payment pattern on that account, Subscribers are not obligated to make rating adjustments. However, in discussing your valid reasons, a Subscriber may deem it fair to make the rating adjustment.
You must keep your payments to your creditors up to date. If you are delinquent and your account is in arrears, you will first need to bring the account current and then, make all subsequent payments on time. This will result in an improved credit rating and when they report the improved rating to us, we will update your credit profile.
You can apply for credit with those subscribers with whom you have a poor payment history and who have contributed a negative rating to your credit history file and make payments promptly on your new account. You may need to pay them a larger down payment, or provide some additional security, but once you pay them promptly, they will provide us with a good rating on the new credit obtained from them. Profiles with newer credit ratings that are good, can have a more favorable assessment.
Requests received from subscribing companies are handled in the order they are received. However, once the change is made in our system, it is immediately reflected on your profile.
NB. Please note, if you have settled the account in full, unless the issuing company provides specific instructions to have that account removed from our database or the rating adjusted, the rating will remain in the system for at least five years after the date of settlement, however your status will change to (I) inactive.
If you believe you have been given an unfair rating and you have the necessary proof to back your claim, you can complete our dispute/change form, whereby you are required to document your position. This information is forwarded to the subscriber involved for their response and/or rebuttal. The subscriber may agree to change your rating. However, should an impasse arise between you and the subscriber, then CreditInfo will act as third party to determine if a satisfactory decision can be settled among all concerned parties. If that is not the case, then an independent arbitrator can be used to come to a final decision. The status of accounts is adjusted during the dispute process to identify that account as being disputed.
No. CrediCheck is a privately owned company
CrediCheck primarily maintains a database of credit payment information, which both companies & private citizens are allowed managed access to for a fee.
Many people share the same or very similar names and sometimes even birthdates or have very close addresses. Your ID number accurately identifies and separates you from other individuals of similar name, age and address. It also accurately identifies you in the event of a name change by reason of marriage, adoption or otherwise.
CreditInfo receives information from a wide cross section of sources and is constantly accumulating new sources. Many companies do not carry up to date profile information such as your address, however where accurate and current information is provided, this can be reflected on your profile, and this will help to provide KYC (know your customer) to creditors for which you’re seeking new credit facilities. Additionally, this information is no different than what you would have to supply when completing a credit application form.
It means therefore that it is possible there is more than one record listed on the database for an individual/company. Once we receive your correct national registration (ID) number or corporate number in the case of a company, any records pertaining to you (or said company) will be streamlined under that number and your current address so there is only one record on file.
Providing this information allows us to ensure that only your record(s) are selected for viewing during the credit check process and not those of another individual or company. Any incorrect personal or corporate information on the profile can be corrected.
CrediCheck does provide a service and employs personnel to prepare your credit reports. In this growing credit arena, they are often required by creditors prior to approving a new credit account.
You are permitted to have one free credit report in the year, outside of a minimal fee of $30.00 to request additional credit checks.
Please note also, where the ratings on your current credit report has changed, an updated report is provided free.
Credit information providers, otherwise known as your creditor, provides the credit bureau with your credit history information. Note, with the soon to be implemented credit reporting legislation, this will become mandatory for all credit information providers.
The maximum period information is kept on the credit bureau database is seven (7) years from the date the account was cleared if the settlement date was supplied by your creditor. Credit accounts can be removed from your profile after 5 years from the cleared date, if while conducting an inquiry, the cleared date was confirmed.
The purpose of a credit rating and status is to accurately portray your repayment pattern on that account whether good or bad. Therefore, if you have already cleared an account that was not paid well, the rating should remain as is.
However, should you still have a balance outstanding on the account, you do have the opportunity to improve your credit rating by making your future payments on time according to the agreed due date on your contract for at least three (3) consecutive months. We do urge you to maintain that good payment pattern to ensure your credit rating does not drop back to a negative one.
Alternately, credit ratings can be improved if upon investigation it becomes apparent there was an error made by the reporting company the information can no longer be verified by your creditor (e.g., through loss/purging of data), in this instance, it should be removed altogether from the database.
If said company, upon reviewing the account, deems there to have been extreme mitigating circumstances and requests a rating change be made. Remember, the further you stray from the repayment plan, or the more your account goes into arrears, the worse the rating will get.
